Raptors Exercise Team Options on Brazilian Youngsters Bruno Caboclo and Lucas Nogueira

Recently the Toronto Raptors announced they had exercised team options on 20 year old forward Bruno Caboclo and 23 year old center Lucas Nogueira. Two young players that head Coach Dwayne Casey will look to add to the rotation more, this coming NBA season.  These new deals will keep Caboclo and Nogueira with the Raptors until 2017.

The Raptors left it late to exercise the team options on these two youngsters. The deadline was October 31st. The financial details of the two deals are not disclosed due to Raptors team policy.

Player profiles

Bruno Caboclo

Bruno Caboclo is a 6-foot-9 small forward who is native of Brazil. He was drafted by the Raptors in the 2014 draft, 20th overall. He played for both the Raptors and in the D-League last season. With the Raptors Caboclo averaged 1.3 points, 0.3 rebounds and 2.9 min in the eight games Caboclo played last season. He also played games for Fort Wayne in the D-League. He averaged 3.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and averaged 8.9 minutes on the court.

Lucas Nogueira

Lucas Nogueira is a 7-foot center also from Brazil. Similarly to Caboclo, Nogueira also played for both the Raptors and Fort Wayne last season. He averaged 1.0 point per game and 1.8 rebounds in six games for the Raptors. Nogueira was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2013. He then played three seasons in Spain for Club Baloncesto Las Rozas, before joining up with the Toronto Raptors last season.

The Toronto Raptors have two young players who could develop into anything in the NBA, they both have potential, whether or not their talent will be a part of Raptors franchise in the future, we will just have to wait and see.
